As of November 1, 2020, the Cyprus Investment Programme in its previous format was abolished by the decision of the Council of Ministers, announced about 2 weeks ago. All applications submitted before November 1 will continue to be examined; no new applications will be accepted.
According to local media reports, government officials issued instructions warning law firms and their legal assistants that no applications for citizenship from foreign investors will be accepted unless documents are received in full by the November 1 deadline.
A few days before the closure of the Cyprus Investment Programme, Interior Ministry officials and paralegals speeded up their work to process the last batch of foreign investor petitions before the Programme ends in November 1.
